Directors' Addresses

The Companies Act 2006 (the Act) introduced new rules in October 2009 to protect directors’ residential addresses.

There have been many publicised cases of animal rights activists obtaining directors’ home addresses from the public register at Companies House and mounting campaigns of harassment and abuse. It was hoped that the introduction of Confidentiality Orders in 2002 would resolve the problem; however with nearly 7,000 orders being issued to directors by October 2006, the government recognised it was time to take further action.
